The graduation ceremony for the 5th cohort NipCA fellows was held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

Eight students who entered the Special Program in Japanese and Eurasian Studies (SPJES) in 2023 were awarded master’s degrees.

For this term’s Best Paper Award was given to Mr. Baikurmanov Bauyrzhan for his paper “Human Capital Development in Rural Kazakhstan Through the “With a Diploma – to the Village” Program: A Case Study of the Zhetysu Region” and Outstanding Thesis Award wend to Ms. Tursynaliyeva Azhar for her paper “Formality/Informality Nexus in Water Management Policy in Kazakhstan: A Case Study of Water Users Associations”. Professor Usuyama, the NipCA project administration director, presented commemorative ornaments to the winners.

With their studies at the University of Tsukuba in mind, the fellows are expected to play an active role in the development of their home countries and as a bridge between their nations and Japan.
