Seven 6th cohort NipCA fellows (SPJES) and one 7th NipCA fellow (MPH) participated in the “Study Tour to Hokkaido,” a Japanese company internship program I, from Tuesday, July 8 to Friday, July 11, 2025.

The fellows received training at local governments and companies that are implementing progressive initiatives and learned about the SDGs in the uniquely developing Niseko region of Hokkaido.

During the internship, participants visited Hokkaido Shiribeshi Regional Development Bureau, Kutchan Town Office, Niseko Takahashi Dairy Farm, Niseko Environment Co., Ltd., Hokkaido University, Niseko High School, Niseko HANAZONO Resort, and Upopoy National Ainu Museum and Park. During their first visit to Hokkaido, they were able to have a valuable experience learning about the efforts towards sustainability in tourism and development in Niseko Town, as well as the history of the Ainu people.
