On Tuesday, September 26, 2023, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan Atadurdy Bayramov paid a courtesy visit and attended a class in the intensive course “Languages and Cultures of Central Asia” offered at the University of Tsukuba. This marked the first occasion when a Turkmen language class was offered at the university.
Dr. Masahiro Oku, a specially appointed researcher at TUFS, who had previously taught Japanese at a university in Turkmenistan, served as the lecturer.
Ambassador Bayramov offered words of encouragement to the Turkmen language students, urging them to act as a bridge between Turkmenistan and Japan.
In response, three students, representing their peers, recited a poem written by Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader and Chairman of the National Council of Turkmenistan, about the great Turkmen poet, Magtymguly.
The Ambassador also presented souvenirs to the students and treated them to Nabat, a traditional Turkmen pastry, which the students enjoyed very much.
The University of Tsukuba and the NipCA project are committed to sustaining and enhancing educational and research exchanges with Turkmenistan.
