My name is Azhar Tursynaliyeva, and I’m from Kazakhstan. Last year, I graduated from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, majoring in International Relations. During my undergraduate studies, I did an Erasmus exchange program in Marburg University, Germany.

When I came back to my home country, I participated in several national and international conferences conducted by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) where I got acquainted with well-known experts and young researchers all over the world. Lately, I did my internship in the Society of Honorary Consuls, and in the Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Almaty office.

Before coming to Tsukuba, I participated in Aral Summer School 2023 which was dedicated to sustainable water management and conservation of environment. Thus, it inspired me to apply for SPJES program, and continue my studies on the topic of transboundary water issues in Central Asia in the University of Tsukuba.

Studying in Japan was my childhood dream, and now it came true. In future, I will work on  development of  water security policy in Kazakhstan, and try to make own contribution to the strengthening of bilateral relationship between Kazakhstan and Japan.
