Greetings!

My name is Fatima Mirakilova, and I am from Uzbekistan. I graduated from the National University of Uzbekistan with a Bachelor’s degree in English Philology and Teaching languages. During my undergraduate studies, I have actively volunteered as an interpreter in such international events as the IsDB Annual Meeting 2021 in Tashkent, the Presidential elections 2021, the Presidential elections 2023, the Constitutional Referendum, Tashkent International Investment Forum 2022, accompanying international delegations from Nigeria, Thailand, Austria, Japan and Azerbaijan. This experience helped to hone my translation and communication skills.

Additionally, I have won a fully funded scholarship on summer exchange program in 2022 at Green River College, WA and currently I am the SUSI alumna (The Study of the U.S. Institute for Young Women Leaders on Environmental Issues). This experience sparked my interest in the SDGs and specifically gender issues and changed my perception towards the further studies. Therefore, I decided to devote my research to studying the role of females in improving quality education in Uzbekistan.

I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in International Public Policy at the SPJES program at the University of Tsukuba. I chose specifically this university since it will help me to achieve all my future projects as I can study the SDGs in a broader sense, specifically in Central Asia region as well as broad my networking circle in multicultural diversity in one of the best universities in Japan.

In future, I hope to contribute to higher education system in Uzbekistan, to resolve gender issues in districts implementing necessary projects as well as to strengthen relations between Uzbekistan and Japan.
