On Monday, 17 February 2025, Dr. Umarov Akrom, First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, visited the University of Tsukuba and engaged with students and faculty through a series of academic activities. Moderated by the Director of Special Program in Japanese and Eurasian Studies (SPJES) Prof. Dadabaev Timur, Dr. Umarov delivered a seminar for MA students of the Special Program for Central Eurasia, sharing his expertise on key regional issues. Additionally, he conducted a specialized seminar for PhD students on Social Networking and Research Grant Generation Skills, providing valuable insights into academic and professional development. He also addressed postgraduate students on employment strategies, offering guidance on navigating the labor market after graduation.

On the sidelines of the lectures and seminars, Dr. Umarov and Prof. Usuyama Toshinobu, Head of the Nippon Foundation Project for Human Resources, signed an agreement between UWED and the Nippon Foundation Central Asia Human Resource Management Project (NipCA). This partnership aims to facilitate dual-degree courses, enhancing the competitiveness of SPJES/NipCA fellows in the Central Asian labor market. This collaboration marks an important step toward strengthening academic exchange and fostering global opportunities for students in the region.
