On Monday, August 25, 2025, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the University of Tsukuba signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the establishment of the “Seismology and Exogenic Geodynamics Research Center” affiliated with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. On the same day, they also renewed the Campus-in-Campus agreement and held an unveiling ceremony for the Japanese translation of A Guide to Kazakh Grammar, 2nd Edition.
From Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Visiting Professor Takashi Ninomiya, and Counselor Anuarbek Karashev from the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Japan attended. From the University of Tsukuba, President Kyosuke Nagata, Head of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Toshinobu Usuyama, and Associate Professor Yuji Kajiyama from the Office of Global Initiatives attended.
The newly published A Guide to Kazakh Grammar, 2nd Edition (Japanese Translation) is the Japanese translation of a book authored by Rector Tuimebayev, who recently visited Japan in connection with the book’s release event. The translation was carried out by Professor Takashi Ninomiya and Professor Madina Shadaeva, with Professor Toshinobu Usuyama supervising the translated edition. The book was published by the Center for Education of Global Communication at the University of Tsukuba, with support from the NipCA Project. For more details about the book, please see here.
This ceremony marked an important step toward deepening academic exchange between the two universities and further developing their cooperative relationship in the future.
