NipCA project cooperating faculty member Takashi Ninomiya presented the results of his research at the “International Conference, Crossroads of Civilizations 15: Mutual Understanding of Different Cultures, Ethnicities, and Languages through the Prism of Comparative Typological Studies 2”.
On March 11, 2023, project cooperating faculty member Takashi Ninomiya participated in the International Conference Crossroads of Civilizations 15 “Mutual Understanding of Different Cultures, Ethnicity, and Languages through the Prism of Comparative Typological Studies 2” organized by the National University of Oriental Studies of Tashkent.
The conference, an academic conference on Uzbekistan and Japanese studies, was held at the University of Oriental Studies, Tashkent State University, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Representatives of research institutions from Uzbekistan, Japan, and Kazakhstan participated.
Mr. Ninomiya presented the results of his research entitled “The Process of Creating “Easy Kazakh” and “Easy Russian” Languages for People with Developmental Disabilities in Kazakhstan. In this presentation, it was suggested how the Kazakhstani government and society could develop an “easy Kazakh” and “easy Russian” language movement based on the “easy language” movement in Germany. In particular, the focus is on people with developmental disabilities, which differs from the target audience of “easy language” for foreigners in Japan.
The conference brought together many linguists and sociologists and provided a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas about people with developmental disabilities and “friendly language” in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
