On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, JACAFA (Japan Central Asia Friendship Association) President Kyoko Uruboski and four alumni (one from Uzbekistan, one from Kazakhstan, one from Tajikistan, and one from Kyrgyzstan) visited the University of Tsukuba to tour the facilities and participate in the Japan Central Asia Exchange Forum.

In the morning, they visited the T-PIRC (Tsukuba-Plant Innovation Research Center) on campus with NipCA staff and toured the farm facilities and the Gene Research Divison (GRD). In the afternoon, the Japan Foundation and JACAFA hosted the “Japan Central Asia Exchange Forum: Human Resource Development and Innovation in the Central Asia Republics”. At the forum, 4 JACAFA alumni and 2 NipCA fellows (Mr. Berkinov Jakhongir and Ms. Badiyeva Aizada) gave presentations on their research topics, followed by lively discussions. Finally, a reception was held at the Tsukuba Demi on campus. By bringing together international students from Central Asia supported by the NipCA project, we hope an organic network to contribute to solving social issues in the Central Asian region in the future will be established among them.
