On Tuesday, September 29, 2020, we invited Dr. Rie Kage, an associate Professor of Okinawa International University lecture titled “Human Resource Development in Asia ― the system for accepting foreign caregivers in Japan” as the 13th lecture of the public lecture series “Central Eurasia and the future of Japan.”
Dr. Kage, who has abundant overseas research experiences, mainly talked about the EPA Certified care worker system based on the detailed materials of the field survey in Indonesia. Dr. Kage began talking with the introduction of the fact of the shortage of nursing personnel in Japan, and continued to the type of foreign care personnel acceptance system which was there so far, and went through discussions, such as the effects and export of Asian care personnel, and case introduction of the latest EPA care workers. Based on these issues, the issue of the aging of Asia and the role that Japan should play was raised.
In this lecture, more than 50 participants attended and a lively discussion continued during the Q & A hours after the lecture. In particular, earnest questions from the participants about the Japanese nursing care problem and the care supporters which were far more serious than imagination.
