On September 1st, 2022, NipCA Project researcher Dr. Nafissa Insebayeva participated in the 15th Seoul ODA International Conference, which was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The conference was held in Seoul, South Korea, under the theme “Expanding the horizon for global development partnerships.” The event was attended by representatives of the world’s leading and emerging development agencies, international organizations, and research institutions, such as the UNDP, USAID, UNOSSC, OECD, UNESCAP, Center for Global Development (CDG) and others.

Dr. Insebayeva participated in the conference as member of the Kazakhstani delegation led by the Chairman of Executive Board at Kazakhstan Agency for International Development (KazAID) Mr. Dastan Yeleukenov. Dr. Insebayeva specializes in international development cooperation, and has published a book titled “Modernity, Development and Decolonization of Knowledge in Central Asia: Kazakhstan as a Foreign Aid Provider” (Palgrave, 2022).

The conference served as an important platform, which brought together various development actors for the purpose of promoting partnership and innovation in international development cooperation. The speakers covered a wide range of issues pertaining to the role of donors in development and had an opportunity to share local knowledge and exchange ideas about tackling global development challenges.
