Hello! My name is Kamshat, and I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in International Public Policy at the University of Tsukuba as a NipCA fellow. I graduated from Nazarbayev University in Astana in 2025 with a major in Sociology and a minor in Anthropology. My main research topic is the education system in Kazakhstan and its transformation under the influence of globalization and other international trends.
While studying at the university in Kazakhstan, I worked as a tutor and mentor at various educational agencies, which deepened my interest in the field of education and thus formed the foundation for my current research. Besides that, I was a research assistant at the Leibniz Institute of Contemporary History, and through this partnership, I was able to expand my experience in conducting qualitative research through interviews and fieldwork in various regions of Kazakhstan.
I decided to study and write my master’s thesis at the University of Tsukuba primarily because of the program’s focus on developing Eurasian studies and the amazing researchers, whose works I read even before enrolling here. I intend to study Japan’s policy for developing and maintaining educational standards, and hope to bring some aspects of it to my country in the future.
