My name is Davronova Farangis, and I am from Tajikistan.
As a gender and media expert, I have designed and worked on projects bringing together community leaders, young people and policymakers to advance the Women, Peace and Security agenda in Central Asia. My work spans a variety of fields, including gender advocacy, youth empowerment, peacebuilding, and media.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Jurisprudence with a specialization in International Relations, and a Master’s degree from the Russian-Tajik Slavonic University. Recently, I completed my second Master’s degree in International Public Policy at the University of Tsukuba, with a focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). I was honored to receive the Best Thesis Award for my research on “Digital Activism in Tajikistan: Gender Advocacy of Youth on Social Media”.
In addition to my academic achievements, I have completed several prestigious training programs, including one year regional program the UNRCCA Preventive Diplomacy Academy (PDA) and a global one year initiative of the OSCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid OSCE Women Peace Leadership Programme (WPLP), both in 2024. These experiences have further deepened my commitment to peacebuilding and gender equality.
Throughout my career, I had the privilege of working in the Y-PEER, Innovation Lab of UNICEF, American Space Dushanbe, Asia-Plus, OSCE, CABAR.asia, and in the civil society sector, focusing on areas such as youth & women empowerment, peacebuilding, gender equality and media.
Currently, I am pursuing a PhD in International Public Policy (IPP) at the University of Tsukuba, with a continued focus on the SDGs as a recommended applicant and I appreciate the support of the Nippon Foundation in my academic endeavors. I feel also extremely grateful to work again with my supervisor Professor Timur Dadabaev. I am deeply passionate about gender equality, media, peacebuilding, and foreign policy, and I am committed to making a meaningful contribution to these fields through both my research and professional engagements.
