On Tuesday March 16, 2021, five first-term NipCA fellows who completed the Master’s Programs Special Program in Japan and Eurasian Studies (SPJES), Master’s Program in International Area Studies, Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Tsukuba, and one who are scheduled to complete in September, made a courtesy visit to the Nippon Foundation. After each fellows made slide presentations of what they had learned in their life in Japan for a year and a half, they made acknowledgements to the Nippon Foundation. Videos of fellow activities were also screened, and they learned a lot from various activities on the NipCA project, including Hokkaido and Okinawa training, in addition to their studies. President Sasakawa also awarded each fellow a certificate as a 1st Sasakawa NipCA Fellow, and he spoke with high hopes for their future success.
The first Sasakawa NipCA Fellows who will return to their home countries are expected to serve as a bridge between Japan and Central Asia, and to engage in solving social issues in the Central Asian region as the center of the alumni network formed by the Nippon Foundation, the Japan Association for Friendship with Central Asia (JACAFA), and University of Tsukuba.
