On Friday, March 17, 2023, the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Japan hosted the “Researcher Exchange Conference Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Kazakhstan,” where 20 researchers from Japan and Kazakhstan had an opportunity to deliver presentations on various topics.
The NipCA project leader, Professor Toshinobu Usuyama (Humanities and Social Sciences), and the project coordinator, Yuji Kajiyama, UIA (University International Administrator), represented the NipCA project and presented a report titled “Educational and Academic Exchange at the University of Tsukuba: The Nippon Foundation’s Project for the Development of Human Resources in Central Asia (NipCA)”.
As a cooperating faculty member of the NipCA project and the coordinator of the Almaty Office, University of Tsukuba, Dr. Takashi Ninomiya (Invited Professor, Department of Far Eastern Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Kazakh National University) participated in the conference virtually and gave a presentation titled “Issues in Kazakh Language Studies: Grammar, Pragmatics and Other Topics.”
Following the conference, attendees were treated to traditional Kazakh cuisine and Dombra performances, which created a delightful setting for further conversations about future collaboration between Japan and Kazakhstan.
