My name is Konysbay Zhambyl, and I am from Kazakhstan.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from the Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov.

During my undergraduate studies, I was actively involved in volunteer initiatives, where we conducted anti-drug awareness campaigns and removed graffiti and signs related to drug use — a particularly urgent issue in Almaty due to the high prevalence of synthetic drug consumption. I also took part in various scientific conferences, which helped broaden my academic perspective and strengthen my professional competencies.

In January 2024, I had the opportunity to visit Japan and the University of Tsukuba as a participant in the «SAKURA SCIENCE Exchange Program». This experience had a profound impact on me and strengthened my decision to pursue a Master’s degree in Public Health at the University of Tsukuba.

Following my graduation, I worked for seven months at the Committee for Medical and Pharmaceutical Control of the Almaty Region. This role provided me with valuable practical experience in public health oversight and healthcare regulation at the governmental level.

Currently, I am pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Health at the University of Tsukuba. My research focuses on the awareness and attitudes of the population in Kazakhstan toward human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination. This program is expanding my knowledge and refining my skills in areas such as interagency collaboration, community engagement, critical evaluation of health policies, and evidence-based public health strategies. These competencies are essential for public health professionals working in an increasingly complex global health landscape.

In the future, I aspire to return to the Committee for Medical and Pharmaceutical Control in the Almaty Region to contribute to the advancement and modernization of Kazakhstan’s healthcare system. I am passionate about improving health outcomes and committed to serving my country through effective, research-driven public health policy.
